Horse names LOL!
By Tabitha: I thought it would be fun to look at funny or odd horse names – basically just a name thrown out, with no regard for the pictures it conjures up when we say them ... There was a "Concrete", funnily enough, he was hard to get moving. Lol ...
By Gdb: My first horse's name was Staunch Eagle ... but his nickname was Paunchy. How's that for opposite images!
By Gerda: A friend of ours once had a horse called "Whatever".
By Nala: My last horse was a gorgeous Vlaam gelding. But when I first got him, the change in feed (from basically oats, molasses and lucerne in huge quantities three times a day, to 10% and oat hay and a bit of lucerne) made him fart like you can't believe. Hence the nickname became Farts. People used to look at me funny when I called this beautiful horse Farts :). Funnily enough, his new owner now calls him Farts too! Lol!
By Tabitha: My sister had a horse whose name was "One Arm Bandit of the Royal Brigade". Quite a mouthful, we ended up calling him "Boy", hehe!
By Mary: We had an old pony called Gay Boy. When he was born, it was a happy name, but in later years it became a bit embarrassing.
By Jenny-c: I had a dear old English friend in Northwest who used to come on trails with me, on her (equally dear) old horse called Tom Tit (nice little bird in the UK). I persuaded her to change it to plain Tom, after several locals almost fell off their horses laughing.
By Allan: One tent-pegging horse that had a pink skin with liver spots on its bum, was called Bont-Hol.
By Alice: I just saw a pony advertised called Brusselsprout! Green, fat and hates kids?
By Misty: When I bought my beautiful boy, the person selling him had no idea what his name was. A few days later they came back to me and said it was Thabo. Now, he is a buttermilk palomino colour, so somehow that just did not seem right to me and I renamed him Irish Cream.
Some time later I found out his original name had actually been President and, as a joke, the stable hands called him Thabo! My mini gelding is actually called Merlin, but the name you are most likely to hear when he is around, is Little Sh!t. Why? Well, he has a mind of his own and is damn strong for a mini.
By Karo: Oh, I forgot about Meelmuis, a strawberry roan pony. I thought that was rather cute!
By Maddison: I know of a horse called Guess. You can imagine how those conversations go ...
By N3: There was a horse at the show yesterday called Fool on the Hill and there is a very good racehorse filly called Goat.
