Core training refers to a system of exercises designed to mobilise the intervertebral joints and strengthen the muscles of the neck, back, abdomen and pelvis that control the horse's posture and balance.
The manual, with sturdily laminated pages for durability, is divided into four parts. First it provides a breakdown of the horse's musculoskeletal anatomy, then it focuses on mobilisation exercises, then core strengthening exercises, and finally balancing exercises. Throughout, the exercises are illustrated with very clear and self-explanatory pictures.
The accompanying DVD is very useful in that it demonstrates clearly how to do the exercises, and also what it should look like if the exercise is done correctly.
