Redakteursbrief

Legends of endurance riding – who and what are they? Riders, administrators and horses? Or should only people be considered as legends? Horses are an essential part of the partnership that forms the team that participates in an endurance ride, and surely they can also become legends in our sport. In this issue, we start a new series on endurance legends, and the first legend under discussion is a horse, one that achieved something that none other has.

Endurance riding in South Africa is going through a difficult phase, and many members are voicing their dissatisfaction with the way the sport is managed. Many positive changes are taking place, but if even more members would provide the Council of the Endurance Ride Association with positive inputs, the speed at which transformation towards a well-managed organisation takes place, will further increase. Splitting the Association into smaller parts, will only lead to further disorganisation. Let's rather stand together and find solutions acceptable to all!

Until next time,
