By Jane: ... I was só offended when I read the article on miniatures in a recent SA Horseman: "Like most height-deprived people, the most difficult thing is to keep them slim, but nutritionally sound."
Well really! Speaking on behalf of all height-deprived people, the article makes us all sound like out of control munching machines! Hang on ... I am an out of control munching machine!
By Jynx: No comment from this vertically challenged individual.
By Jenny-c: My miniature/Sh.tland cross, Midnite, has asked me to register a very strong objection on her behalf as well! Although vertically challenged, Midnite is curvaceous, voluptuous, sleek, glossy and undeniably the CUTEST equine on the planet! The fact that she could impersonate a picnic table or a TV stand, and has enough of a gully on her back to collect three litres of rainwater, is entirely besides the point! Objections to her supreme, small, gorgeous attitude should be registered at a distance. Midnite can "kneecap" vets at 1,5 m
(and you don't want to mess with her human mum either!)
By Mary: To say that it is the height-deprived who battle to keep slim, is one of the most length-ist things I've ever heard.
By Jenny-c: I say: "Go little people and little critters!" Remember dynamite comes in small packages!
By Peta: I've always been the shortest person in my class, but hey, I'm happy 'cos at least I can still fit on my pony.
By Jenny-c: If you want to be slim and agile, ride (or walk next to) your horses often, don't eat dead animals more than twice a week, drink lots of water, a bit of wine and keep your sense of humour!! Oh and prunes are good too! (Not for the horses, for the people!)
By HLK: ... there are two moody overweight mares in the family. Sigh ... we both prefer to be called cute. Note the Oxford Dictionary definition: “cute • adjective 1 endearingly pretty; 2 N. Amer. informal sexually attractive; 3 informal, chiefly N. Amer. clever; shrewd”.
By Jane: ... sad to report that, in this instance, the shortie is a fatty.
By Mary: Or just well-built?
By Jane: Thanks for the kind offer of a euphemism Mary but, at my age, reality must be faced ... and then ignored!
By Crazy Hoss: ... my fat little pig does put on weight just by looking at food – shame, I feel so sorry for her when she looks on longingly at the others getting lunch every day.
By Jenny-c: Shame! Give her some chopped carrots in a bucket, so she can have "lunch" too.
By N3: Fattie does not equate to short. I am on the tall side but I am a “good doer”.
By Jane: Thanks SO much! You have solved such a problem for me. I am not fat – I am simply a good doer! Works for me! By Crazy Hoss: Well ... as for me, I am just short for my weight ... or this is just my winter coat ...
