would you sell a horse with one eye and it is a gelding for R20 000. Not doing pro sport or anything special.

To answer your question NOOOOOOO. But maybe the question should be "will you buy a gelding for R20k......"?

I know you asked specifically asked about geldings, but I will personally have no problem selling a mare with excellent bloodlines if she has only one eye - but it also depends on how she has lost sight in the eye - if it is genetic, no ways. If she got hurt and the eye had to be removed, by all means. (Please note that I am promoting back yard breeding!)

I saw such an ad,maybe the same one but the gelding was going for R24 000, and my answer is no! For that price I can get something with both eyes and the same quality!

I had a look at a beautiful mare a while ago who had only one eye (she lost it due to an injury). She had the most stunning personality, and has adjusted so well with the one eye. I seriously considered buying her, but my vet failed her on a conformation issue. If it wasnt' for that, I would have bought her.

I evented a one eyed horse. They do adapt but you as a rider have to be aware of it.

Hettie, the simple fact is that a horse is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it

I would also buy a one eyed horse but not for R20 000.
